Oak explore Space!

We have had an amazing afternoon shooting off into space! We have been learning about rockets as part of our Fire Fire topic and all of the fantastic planets it may visit on its journey. We have designed our own rockets using glow doodle on the ipads, thought of some wow words to describe the noises it may make, watched some fascinating you tube clips about space and made a giant 3D rocket for the space exhibition after half term. We have also been reading the story ‘Whatever Next’ by Jill Murphy. We have thought about what little bear may see on the moon and have designed and described our own aliens! Some were pretty disgusting!!

Oak practise their handwriting!!

We have been trying hard with our handwriting this term, especially learning to join up our letters. This morning, we did a rotation of activities which all help with our fine and gross motor skills and hand eye coordination to help us with our writing.

The Great Fire of London

We have gone back in time today to the year of 1666 in London. We have learned all about how The Great Fire of London started and why it spread so quickly and fiercely across London. We looked closely at the equipment the people used to try to put out the fire and compared it to ours now. We made some salt dough bread for our Pudding Lane Bakery. We spoke about the famous people at that time, Samuel Pepys who kept a very famous diary of the events and King Charles II who reigned at the time and we drew portraits of them. We continue our learning tomorrow when we make real bread and try to write a diary in the style of Samuel Pepys.
