Rights Respecting Schools Award
We are proud to have been recognised by UNICEF as a Rights Respecting School.
A ‘Rights Respecting School’ is one in which there is a culture of mutual respect underpinning all of its work. Children learn about their rights as identified in the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of the Child. They also learn that they have responsibilities – a responsibility to respect the rights of all others in their community. In a Rights Respecting School, children learn to appreciate their role within a community – their school and local community as well as their global community.

Today some children took Mrs Morgan and Mrs Whitlock with them to Kingston Maurward for a Rights Respecting Schools Celebration Day. The children prepared and delivered a wonderful presentation about how our school achieved the Rights Respecting Schools Level 1 Award and how we use rights and responsibilities to encourage everyone to make sensible choices.
They also took part in dance, art and creative writing workshops and had a lovely lunch over-looking the beautiful lake and gardens. Click here for the photos and here (RRS Dance) to see a video of the dancing!

The children have all been learning about their rights and responsibilities. We have been looking at the UN Convention of the Rights on the Child and have discussed that these rights apply to all children everywhere. More information can be found at Unicef.
We hope you enjoy looking at some of our displays which are linked to rights and responsibilities.
